Broadband to Brambles: Virgin Media’s Network of Care

Sue-perheroes assemble! — powered by snacks, spades, and sheer determination.

Wired for Good: Virgin Media Volunteers at Rainbow’s End

There’s something special about welcoming familiar faces back to Rainbow’s End — and our volunteer group from Virgin Media never fails to bring energy, kindness, and a whole lot of muscle!

Twice a year, this brilliant team joins us to lend a hand with everything from creating new accessible pathways to maintaining existing ones, cutting back overgrown areas, and generally rolling up their sleeves to support MEPT’s mission. Their practical help makes a huge difference — not just to the land, but to the people and animals who rely on it.

When your broadband team doubles as your bramble-busting brigade…

Building Access, One Path at a Time

Thanks to their hard work, our outdoor spaces are becoming more inclusive and welcoming for everyone — whether you’re navigating with wheels, walking sticks, or just a curious toddler in wellies. Their attention to detail and willingness to tackle the tough jobs (brambles, anyone?) helps us keep Rainbow’s End safe, sensory-friendly, and full of possibility.

Rolling into nature: our wheelchair-friendly sensory trail brings every visitor closer to nature’s magic.

Meeting the ponies

After a morning of bramble-busting and path-laying, the team took a well-earned stroll up to Jigsaw Stables — stopping for an impromptu foraging lesson from Sue along the way. By the time they reached the yard, pockets were rustling with pony-friendly snacks: handfuls of dock leaves, dandelions, and other leafy treats gathered along the way.

Bribery? Nooo… just strategic snack-sharing.

Wildlife Wonders

As always, nature had its own surprises in store. Buzzards circled overhead, kestrels hovered, hares darted through the hedgerows, and frogs made their presence known in the undergrowth. It was a reminder of how alive and interconnected our spaces are — and how every bit of volunteer effort helps protect and nurture that balance.

New Faces, Same Spirit

We were delighted to welcome some new volunteers among the group this time — each bringing fresh enthusiasm and a willingness to muck in. Whether it was shifting gravel, chatting with staff, or spotting wildlife, their presence added to the sense of community we cherish so deeply.

Tim doing what he does best; quietly keeping everything (and everyone) running smoothly.

Until next time…

To our Virgin Media volunteers: thank you. Your time, energy, and care ripple out far beyond the tasks you complete. You help us build spaces of healing, joy, and connection — and we can’t wait to see you again soon!
