First Steps with Bob: Horse Riding for Absolute Beginners
If you’ve never ridden a horse before — or even been near one — the idea can feel a little daunting. What if you wobble? What if you don’t know what to do with your hands? What if horses are just… too big?
That’s exactly why we’d love to introduce you to Bob.
Meet Bob
Bob is our mechanical horse, and he’s here to make your first riding experience safe, gentle, and confidence-building — no mud, no nerves, and no judgement. Just you, a comfy saddle, and a chance to discover what riding feels like.
What Is Bob, Exactly?
Bob is a life-sized horse simulator who moves just like the real thing. He walks, trots, and canter-cues on command — but he won’t spook, bolt, or nibble your pockets. He’s designed to help you learn the basics of riding posture, balance, and rein handling in a calm, indoor setting.
Why Start with Bob?
No experience needed — Bob is perfect for total beginners, nervous adults, or anyone curious about riding.
Safe and supported — You’ll be guided by our friendly team, with no pressure to “get it right.”
Learn at your pace — Bob won’t rush you. You can stop, start, and ask questions anytime.
Build confidence — Many riders say Bob helped them feel ready to meet a real horse — and even book their first lesson!
Bob Supports More Than Just Riders
Every Bob session helps fund MEPT’s work with vulnerable children, adults, and animals. That means your first ride also helps us build accessible pathways, sensory-friendly spaces, and healing experiences for those who need them most.
What to Expect
You’ll arrive at Rainbow’s End, meet our team, and get a gentle introduction to Bob. We’ll help you mount up, explain the basics, and guide you through your first steps in the saddle. You’ll learn how to sit, steer, and move with Bob — all while having fun and feeling supported.
Whether you’re curious, cautious, or just looking to try something new, Bob is the perfect place to start. No pressure, no ponies (yet!) — just a warm welcome and a chance to discover the joy of riding.
Ready to meet Bob? Drop us a message — we’d love to help you take your first steps in the saddle.
